QUINTE MALL IS THROWING

Congratulations Nicki & Tyler September 05, 2010
We "Put on Our Dancing Shoes!"

The countdown is on....

Well, 22 days to go, three weeks and one day to put it into perspective. WOW! There's been so much going on that it's hard to keep up. So let's see what you've been missing....

Tyler and I have met with Liane Ireland 3 times so far for our ballroom dancing lesson. Now, I must tell you, when we were presented with the idea of taking dancing lessons, I was thrilled, Tyler, not so much. He's not now, nor has he ever been much of a dancer. Even the thought of the old school - two foot sway at a wedding made him cringe, so you can imagine what he thought when Martha first presented us with the possibility of taking dance lessons right in the middle of the Quinte Mall. Did you know that people really can loose all colour in their face within seconds? It's quite something to see! So, he was slightly relieved when we found out that we would be taking the lessons at Ms. Liane's dance studio instead.
All was going well until we arrived at the Liane Ireland School of Dance three weeks ago. Ty stepped out of the truck and just stood there, looking a smidgen apprehensive to say the very least! I looked at him as if to say... 'Umm... are ya comin'?'  to which he responded, "Nicki, I really can't do this... I hate dancing, I'm not good at it... I really don't want to do this"
So of course being the supportive and nurturing fiancé that I am, I kindly told him to suck it up, and that it would be fun, and "You're gonna do it anyway" :)
So we walked in and started learning... and what do you know, he LOVED it. He picked up the steps one hundred times better than I did and by the time the first lesson was over, he was telling Liane how nervous he had been and how his self confidence was "way down here" and now it's "way up here!!"
We've learned so much in the last three weeks and are looking forward to our final lesson next week. The dance is lookin' pretty great and we can't wait to show it off. Here is a photo of our ending dip! So romantical! :)

We have also met with our wedding officiant, John Syme, he is amazing! He is so soft spoken and kind that we felt comfortable with him right away. We chose the ceremony that we would like, the one that made me cry while reading it as I'm a super sap, and he went through some added little extras with us as well. It's going to be a beautiful ceremony and a beautiful day! We can't wait!!!!!

Thank You Body Shop!

After my hair appt I made my way over to The Body Shop where I met with Janet. I have to say, I was a little nervous about the makeup process because I don't usually wear much at all. So, I told Janet what I was looking for and reluctantly left myself in her hands. What the heck was I worried about?! Janet listened to everything I said and as a result, my makeup turned out beautifully! I couldn't have done a better job myself! Well, of course I couldn't!She's a professional and I'm super terrible with the whole eye makeup thing! You're fantastic Janet!!!! Muah!! Thank you again so much to Janet and Melissa! Everyone loved it when I got home and even my 2 year old son had something to say about it. "Mommy!!!! You look so shiney!!" Which in his language of course means that I look beautiful! :) Thanks baby boy!

I LOVE my HAIR!

Oh My!!! Yesterday, I met with Melissa from Salon You, who I must say is the best 'up-do'ist' that I have ever seen! I showed her a couple photos of the sytle that I would like for my hair on the day of the wedding and she took off and created the most beautiful hair-do I've ever seen! Melissa told me that she loves doing up-do's because she can be creative. That to her it's like an artist creating a masterpiece. Boy did she hit the nail on the head! Thank you so much Melissa, I can't wait til eveyone can see it on the day of the wedding!

My Little Girl Looks so Beautiful!
My daughter Jada was thrilled with her bridesmaids dress and couldn't wait to try it on! It's beautiful and comes complete with a matching purse! It looks amazing on her, and I must admit I did choke back a few tears when I saw her in it. To think that someday I will see her in another white dress and making plans for her own wedding!!!

Thanks Rayna!
Sandra from Rayna!

In our travels and planning I rounded up my, soon to be mother-in-law/amazing friend Judi and we headed to Rayna at the Quinte Mall, who offered to give Judi a dress for the wedding. There we met with Sandra who we absolutely fell in love with. She was so sweet and kind that it seemed as though we'd known her forever. Judi tried on a few dresses and found one that was perfect! Thank you very much Rayna! We love the dress!

Shoes, Shoes and more Shoes!!!!

Now what girl doesn't love shoes?? Ok, well anyone who knows me, knows that's I'm not your traditional shoe loving girly girl. However, I have to say that I had a blast with all my girls at Le Chateau trying shoes on! I almost think it's possible that I could become one of those shoe loving girly girls... maybe!

So, all 5 of my girls and I, (Mel, Amanda, Pam, Theresa and Jenna) invaded Le Chateau and met with Stephanie, who I must say was an absolute doll! She was so great with us and didn't have any issues with us changing our minds on which shoes we wanted to try on next.... a million times! The funny part was, and maybe this is a normal shoe buying thing, but no matter how many pairs of shoes we all tried, each of ended up getting the very first pair of shoes we tried on! There was so many amazing shoes to choose from, and we all had a great time!! Thank you so much to Stephanie and the crew from Le Chateau for being so accommodating. :) We did kind of monopolize your shoe section. :)

72 Days Left to Go!

Well, to say that time is flying is an extreme understatement! Only 72 more days until the wedding of our dreams is upon us and we’re been very busy making all of the preparations.

We had the opportunity to meet with Debbie, of Confetti Occasions, to design our wedding cake! Let me just say that Debbie is not only an amazing person but she is also an amazing cake artist! After meeting with her we were telling our daughter about the cakes that she makes and she has decided that Debbie should have her own TV show just like the Cake Boss! We agree! Together we created a beautiful and unique cake and we can’t wait to see the results! Thank you Debbie!!!

Later the same day we scooted over to the Fairfield Marriott hotel to meet with Betty to plan out the dance and see the room we will be staying in on the night of the wedding. What a room, complete with a hot tub!!!!! WOW!! Thank you so much Betty for taking us on a tour of the hotel! It’s beautiful!

Tyler and I have been racking our brains trying to come up with a few songs for the first dance for you to vote on. We managed to narrow the options down to five, issue: we can only choose two. :s Hmmm... What to do? After listening to our options over and over for what seemed like hours, we came up with one we wanted for sure, but couldn’t decide on a second. So, we called in the help of our daughter. We figured if she could name our youngest son, she could defiantly handle this task! Of course she rose to the occasion and made our decision for us! THANK YOU JADA!!!!

Also, I have teamed up with Orlena of Mix97’s Morning Crew, and along with 11 other ladies we will have created the Mix Morning Crew’s Cherry Bombs, to participate in the Lung Association’s Pull For Kids!!! Me? Pull a fire truck?? For sure!! As Amanda and I have spent countless hours at GoodLife Fitness ‘buffin’ up’, I’m sure I’ll be able to pull that thing like it’s my job!! Lol This is such a great cause and I’m sure will be a fun filled day for all involved! Here’s to the kids!!!!

Lastly, the voting on the bouquet is over and we love your selection, it’s beautiful. Thank you so much to Live, Love, & Laugh! We couldn’t be more thrilled about the participation in voting and the selections the public has made for us. This month you are voting on our honeymoon provided by Sears Travel, and we are sooooo excited as neither of us have ever been anywhere like this before. Keep up the voting everyone!! Keep your eyes open, because I’ll be blogging very soon as we’re shoe shopping next!! Look out Le Chateau, here come the ladies!!!!

Thoughts on Voting...and Ring Shopping

Thoughts on the voting:

So, the voting on the dress and tux is over and we’re thrilled with the results! How much fun was that??! What a non-traditional and unique way of choosing some of the most special parts of our day. The dress is so beautiful! Really you have to see it in person! I am so very excited for the 16th of July when I slip that dress on and get ready to walk down that isle! Thank you so much to Lisa and Grace for the gorgeous wedding dress!
Also, I can’t wait to see Tyler in his tux! But really we all know it’s more about the dress. LOL Thank you so much to Lafferty’s for accommodating Tyler’s proportions for his tuxedo. We know he’ll look devastatingly handsome in it. :) Well at least I think he will.
The voting for my bouquet also started today! WOW! Live, Love & Laugh has really outdone themselves. These arrangements are among the most beautiful I have seen. I had the pleasure of seeing the bouquets right after they had been photographed for the site and they smell just as wonderful as they look! So let the bouquet voting commence.... :)

Ring Shopping!

Last Friday Tyler and I went to Marshmans and met with Tina, who was absolutely wonderful! She showed us many different styles and options of rings and designs and we found one each that was perfect. I took about ten minutes to choose my ring, and Tyler... well let’s just say he took a substantially longer time than I did. That man is so picky! Come to find out from Tina that usually that is the case with couples. The woman is usually able to pick out her ring in no time, but it’s the man who stands there for hours looking at each ring from every possible angle before deciding on the first ring he looked at. Hmm, who knew?

We've Been Busy Lately!

Wow, have things been busy lately! Not in that, drive you crazy, sort of way, but in a great and wonderful and surreal sort of way! J

All of my girls now have their dresses and they look beautiful in them! We were able to find dresses from Sears that looked great on each of them and the style and colour is going to be perfect for a gorgeous July wedding at the Quinte Mall!

Amanda and I have keep up with our pledge to hit GoodLife at least three times a week and we’re starting to see some really great results. We’ve met with Ashton, who is a personal trainer at Good Life and an amazing person, twice now and boy we’ve got our work cut out for us! Our whole "routine" takes us close to two hours and almost kills us, but we know it will be worth it in the long run as Ashton said if we stick with what we’re doing now, we will be in a bikini by the honeymoon! Well I’m not sure about the bikini thing, after three kids I’m just not sure I want to go there, but all the same it’s nice to know that I could if I wanted to!

Tyler and I are planning to meet with Karol Marshman to design our rings this week and are very excited about it! Stay tuned to hear more about that, as I’m sure I’ll have lots to say. J

The "Girls" Have Their Dresses!
What a great week!  The bridesmaid's dresses arrived from Sears and they are beautiful! Nicki and two of her girls, Amanda and Theresa were in today to try them on! They both looked beautiful!!! Thanks to Betty from Sears for her help in ordering the dresses!

Nicki's bouquets were also photographed today! The voting for these begins on April 1st! No, that's not a joke! Don't forget to vote for Nicki's dress and Tyler's tux until March 31st and then it's time to pick Nicki's bouquet! Thanks to Natalie and the crew at Live, Love and Laugh for the beautiful arrangements and to Stephanie at Sears Portrait Studio for taking all of the pictures!

Tyler's Tux
Amazing day! First thing this morning we went to Sears’ Portrait Studio and picked up our engagement photos! They turned out wonderfully, just like we knew they would! Thank you so much to Stephanie from Sears’ Portrait Studio for taking such beautiful photos of us, we are so happy with them and have already started passing them out to friends and family.

Next we were on our way to meet with Jennifer from Sears’ to start our gift registry! She was so great with us and somehow we managed to spend a little over two hours just in the dinnerware and kitchenware section! *wipes her brow* Who knew there was so many things that we absolutely HAD TO HAVE! Haha

To top off our day at the Quinte Mall we went to Lafferty’s to fit Tyler for his tux, dragging in tow, one of my bridesmaids, Theresa and Tyler’s bestman, Jordan. Ty tried on a few suits to get the right fit…. Finally deciding that he needed a 44 LONG! The crew at Lafferty’s was very accomodating however and said it wasn’t a problem at all tailoring a few extra inches of material for my overly tall fiancee. I can’t wait until July so I can see him in his tux!! Tall, dark and very handsome!! Happy voting folks!! J

We're so excited...and I tried on wedding dresses!

Wow! We are so grateful to have won this - we’re still in a state of shock!

With a prize such as this, one really thinks to themselves "what are the odds we’ll win" when filling out a ballot, yet here we are in the middle of telling everyone the progress, and showing them potential wedding plans for them to vote on. We’ve been very busy working out many plans already, and it’s almost as if we’re both waiting to wake up from this wonderful dream! We’ve pinched eachother many times to test, but we sure are awake and it really is happening!

As some of you may have heard, we had the awesome opportunity of meeting some of the crew from behind the scenes of Mix 97 and Rock 107. We were greeted by many staff from Quinte Broadcasting as well as Quinte Mall, and even Greg Sheridan of Sans Souci. They welcomed us with an amazing bouquet of flowers, a digital camera for documenting the journey, a goodie bag from The Body Shop, and our 6-month Goodlife Fitness memberships. As if that wasn’t enough, we had amazing vocalist Sean Jones serenade us with a beautiful love song, live!

After we had shared our morning with Quinte Broadcasting we went to Sears’ Portrait Studio and met with Stephanie where we were able to have engagement photos done! They turned out absolutely perfect! Stephanie worked with us to find amazing poses, and her experience has us anxiously awaiting those prints!

I’ve had an opportunity to start my Goodlife membership and it’s been great so far. It just so happens that one of my bridesmaids also has a membership there and it’s been a lot of fun having "girls nights" at the gym! Tyler hasn’t had the chance to pop in yet as we’ve been busy moving and he’s been the one doing all of the hard stuff. He’s good like that.

The kids are getting really excited - well our oldest is anyways. She was so excited when we told her that we won that she cried. Our two boys are too young to understand what’s going on. All they know is mommy and daddy got a new camera from Blacks and have been snapping photos all over the place! And also they keep hearing things on the radio and getting all excited, "Oh, honey…. It’s playing… they said our names!!!!" Someday they will understand how much of an amazingly unique and special wedding their mommy and daddy had.

Went to Lisa & Grace’s bridal shop this week and tried on dresses! Wow, not a dry eye in the house! Lol Lisa and Grace were so great to deal with and welcomed us very warmly. They knew just what looked great on me and as a result, we were able to pick two absolutely beautiful dresses!!! I can’t wait to see which dress everyone votes for. I know I couldn’t decide!

Congratulations Nicki & Tyler!  On February 4, 2010 we met Nicki & Tyler at Mix 97! The studio was filled - Sean, Orlena, Greg from San Souci and a very special guest, Sean Jones were all there!  Sean even sang to our lucky couple. What a great way to start a six-month adventure to Nicki and Tyler's wedding at Quinte Mall! Special thanks to San Souci for some yummy food, Live, Love & Laugh for a beautiful bouquet of flowers (in the wedding theme!), Belle Events for the lovely balloons, and The Body Shop for some special goodies for Nicki and Tyler!
